Greetings Cruising Classmates,
The charter contract has been signed! The West Point Class of '61
"owns the boat" for our 5-12 October 2008 Mini-reunion down the
Our travel Agency, Worldtek, who is handling our admin for this
venture has made the first charter installment payment to Viking using part of
the deposit you submitted to reserve a cabin on the cruise.
The Class Committee is holding $100 per cabin of that deposit in
the Class Administrative Account as a hedge against any unforeseen costs which
might arise before or during the cruise. This money will be returned to
you if it is not used by the end of the cruise.
Using part of your deposit, Worldtek is in the process of
enrolling each of you in a group trip insurance program that, among other
things, will provide trip cancellation/interruption coverage of up to $3000 per
person for a 9-15 day trip. This insurance will be purchased within 14 days of
the signing of our charter agreement to ensure that pre-existing medical
conditions will be covered should you have to cancel for medical reasons. All
of your payments, including your deposit, are NONREFUNDABLE with the
exception of the $100/cabin held in the Class Administrative Account. If you
must cancel for covered insurance reasons, you will receive from
the insurance company full remuneration of all the nonrefundable
payments you have made up to the date of cancellation except for the cost of
the insurance itself. This policy is for your protection as well as that of the
class. As the basic cruise cost for everyone is less than the insured
amount, you may apply any unused portion to insure trip extensions or air
travel. Worldtek will be available to provide additional coverage should
you need it. A copy of the insurance documentation will be provided to
you.
Worldtek will provide you the installment schedule for your
remaining payments for the cruise. It is vital that these payments be
made in a timely fashion as they are tied to the dates the installment payments
must be paid by Worldtek to Viking. Missing or late payments could result
in the Class defaulting on the charter contract, losing the charter, and still
being liable for the entire cost!
