Vita: | After leaving the Pentagon and the Army in 1984, I eventually became a partner a crash safety engineering firm, ARCCA, Incorporated, that did both expert witness work supported by extensive crash testing and engineering, and
occupant safety projects, mostly for the US Army. We also had some interesting environmental work and developed a visual communications business line. Joan went back to school and then taught for eight years at the University of Maryland (where she went to college) before the demands of four nearby grandchildren took priority. Both Anne, married to Brian Lauritzen (Class of '82 and now a battalion commander at Ft Myer) and Leigh, married to Dave Rand, an American Airlines captain and A10 pilot, live in the DC area.
I joined the Ski Liberty Ski Patrol ten years ago and was the patrol director for four years - leading 100 volunteers is sure different from commanding an Army unit - they all talk back! I remain on the patrol, but now in a capacity where I have a little more freedom. I retired from ARCCA in January 2001 and we bought a home in Big Fork, MT, where I intend to improve my fly-fishing skills. Big Sky country is collecting 61'ers: Paul and Muffin Vallely have a house five miles from ours, and Larry and Judi Butterworth are building a beautiful home at Seeley Lake, not far from Big Fork. For the foreseeable future, we'll keep our home in Maryland, but intend to spend part of the year in Montana.
