Dear Fellow ’62 Can Doers:

This memo is to update everyone on the 45th Reunion Golf Outing on Thursday, September 27, 2007.  FYI, our official reunion weekend starts on Thursday afternoon, September 27, 2007 and runs through Sunday morning, September 30th.

First of all, my thanks to everyone for your response and offers of help on the reunion golf outing. They are appreciated.  I am sorry I could not personally respond to each email.  Attached is a spreadsheet listing classmates that have expressed an interest in playing golf.  If I have missed classmates who you feel should be on the email list, please do let me know immediately so I can get the word out to them.

I have spoken with the golf course and it appears that they will be keeping the price for a golf outing the same for this coming year, i.e., $65.00 per golfer.  This includes a cart and the 18 hole green fees, with $8 of this amount (or thereabouts) going into a special fund for outing prizes (closest to pin, longest drive, low gross and low net, etc.).  Please also note that the West Point Golf Course charges one flat rate for an outing, regardless of whether or note the golfer is still on active duty, retired military, already a member of the West Point course, etc.

To this $65, we would need to add another $20 to $30 for breakfast before and lunch after, for a total golf outing fee of $80-$90 per golfer for the outing.  .  I will be working with Joan Emmer to solidify these costs prior to the reunion mailing due out sometime in January 2007.  A golf sign-up sheet will be included in that packet.  As you may remember, Joan helped us coordinate our 40th reunion and did a marvelous job in contributing to the success of a terrific golf outing back then.

Also, as we did at our last reunion golf outing, we may run some special raffles, mulligan purchases, etc. to help support the Class of 1962 Fund.  And if anyone wanted to donate any door prizes for the outing, they certainly would be appreciated.  As many of you remember, Tom Culver went far beyond the call of duty by contributing a number of door prizes that helped make our last golf outing such a spectacular success, in spite of the damp, rainy weather we had that morning.

Wives and/or special friends are welcomed and are encouraged to join us for the biggest and best reunion golf outing ever. I hope that by keeping you all posted and up-to-date on the golf outing attendance, it will help everyone better coordinate your activities that Wednesday evening prior to the official start of the reunion on Thursday evening.

One final note --- Gus indicated to me that were you to arrive at the Tarrytown Marriott (our reunion headquarters) for a Wednesday night stay, you should be able to get the reunion weekend price for that night.  Gus also mentioned that Joan has reserved a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn Express in Highland Falls for Wednesday evening, September 26th.

Have a terrific Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season. And most importantly,

-----    BEAT NAVY ---
