» COORDINATING WITH THE AOG
It is essential that all classes remain in close contact with the Association of Graduates. Such interaction will ensure that ideas and reports of successful endeavors and lessons learned can be shared with other classes. The focal point for coordination is the Director, Class Support Program. Let the AOG know what you are doing; tell the AOG what it can do to better aid and support your efforts; let the AOG pass the good word to other classes.
The AOG can provide many valuable services to classes. We endeavor to
be more proactive in supporting classes. This handbook is one attempt to
make these services known to you and to give you the opportunity to let
us increase our support to a greater measure.
All classes are encouraged to send at least
one representative to the annual West Point Class Leaders
Conference, hosted by the Alumni Support Committee and held at West
Point each year. The Class Leaders Conference provides a forum for
the exchange of ideas between classes on class governance, class
communication, raising funds for the support of class activities as
well as for class gifts to West Point, and many other issues
beneficial to classes in general. Class leaders in attendance are
briefed firsthand on the developments at West Point. The conference
normally will be held concurrently with the annual West Point
Societies Presidents Conference. While social activities and
briefings are held jointly, each group meets separately to discuss
issues related to their specific areas of interest. A majority of
attendees at the past four Class Leaders Conferences have indicated
that they are good sessions and one of the best means of support the
AOG provides to class leaders.
