         FORT IRWIN, Calif. – The Supplemental Draft Environment Impact Statement (SDEIS) for the acquisition of approximately 110,000 new acres on the east and southwest sides of the existing National Training Center and the return to training use of approximately 22,000 acres in the south was released in the Federal Register on April 9, 2004. The SDEIS document was prepared pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969.  A Notice of Availability will be released by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) April 16, 2004.

         Public hearings published in the Notice of Availability have been changed.  The new public hearing dates are: May 4, 2004, Barstow City Council Chambers, 200 E. Mountain View, Barstow, CA 92311, May 5, 2004, San Diego City Admin Building, 22 C Street, 12^th Floor, San Diego, CA 92101, May 6, 2004, Torrance City Hall, 3031 Torrance Boulevard, Torrance, CA 90501, May 12, 2004, San Bernardino City Council Chambers, 300 N. D Street, San Bernardino, CA 92410, May 13, 2004, Victorville City Council Chambers, 14343 Civic Drive, Victorville, CA 92392, May 18, 2004, Barstow City Council Chambers, 220 E. Mountain View, Barstow, CA 92311.   Oral and written comments will be accepted during this meeting. Written comments and suggestions received within 45 days of the Notice of Availability published by the EPA on April 16, 2004 will be considered in preparing the Final Environmental Impact Statement and the Record of Decision for the Army Action.  Written comments may be forwarded to:
