CAREER RESOURCES Policy
As members of an organization dedicated to furthering the ideals and promoting the welfare of the U.S. Military Academy, West Pointers acknowledge that the longer graduates serve in the Army, the better for West Point. Thus, the profession of arms is one of the career fields within the purview of AOG career services. In addition to promoting networking among active duty officers, the career services Web site and/ business directory will link to the Army Human Resources Command system and the Reserve Components Web site, as well as to information on assignments as Military Academy Liaison Officers, opportunities on the Staff and Faculty of USMA, and other information on the benefits of an Army career.
At the same time, however, we recognize that AOG members are sometimes involuntarily separated or retired from the military, or following completion of their service obligation, make the decision to move into the world of civilian employment. Accordingly, AOG members are encouraged to support one another in that realm. The AOG staff provides advice on military and/or civilian career transition and operates services supporting networking among graduates and facilitating contact with employers. Many of these services are joint; they are established in close cooperation with our sister service academy alumni organizations. The Director, Career & Membership Services is the focal point for AOG’s career services.
