It is now 12 Dec as I begin my Notes for the Mar-Apr Assembly. In these notes I will get a chance to insert some of the many photos received from the Cape Cod mini so you may expect to see some not too closely to the text. My thanks to those who submitted photos - John McLean, Jack Dibble and the Renolas, especially. Incidentally he AOG has been reminding Scribes not to write in ink on the back of photos. The ink will often show through when processed for publication .(Insert photo #1 here)

A letter from Jim Maedler explained his mysterious(to me) appearance n the SF contingent! Apparently , Jim and Barbara moved to CA earlier in 99 to look for suitable place in Marin County. They are in an interim location in Corte Madera while reviewing their options for permanent place there. Their listing in the 99 draft class roster shows them at PO Box 794, Corte Madera, CA 94976-0794 which should be good for a while.(Insert photo #2 here)

My e-mail in Aug tells us something of the Beaudrys that I should have reported in earlier Notes. Sons Chuck and John '75 and '80 USMA respectively are now in civil life in Sacramento and Dallas. Their daughter is married to a Navy Rear Adm - she is a dietitition and a reserve Amy LtCol , Army Medical Service Corps.Their children have provided them with four grand children. The Beaudrys Charlie and Laurel live happily in North Santa Barbara County, CA since he retired in 1969. (Insert photo #3 here)

Again, e-mail provides tid bits n the lives of classmates - My roommate Frankie Devlin in Nov had a fall in which he tried to impale himself on his cane necessitating a spleenectomy for Frank. Frank was able to drive himself home and later to a hospital emergency room. Lucky for him his doctor's office was closeby Frank's home so that medical treatment was prompt and effective. By now, the Devlins are in FL enjoying their winter along with the Dick & Eleanor Abbey whose usual auto train travel to FL was delayed by the serious illness of Eleanor's sister. (Insert photo #6 here)

An e-mail from Ed Verner reports on the San Antonio contingent of the class as a closely knit group who socialize frequently as stags but also in coed ventures. He mentions the recent dinner party hosed by Bart & Susan Barton to celebrate Bart's enlistment in the Signal Corps at Fort Monmouth NJ 65 years ago! By coincidence Ed a year later enlisted in the Signal Corps at Fort Monmouth. The lavish Barton dinner afforded the SA contingent an opportunity to reminisce. Those enjoying the festive affair were Ed & Grace Verner, Pete & Vi Kramer, Maury Shoss, Les Schockner and widows, Mary Lou Stewart. Nancy Francisco, Babs Briggs and Blanch Campbell. (Insert photo #5 here)

An e-mail exchange between Steve Morrissey and Judy Shoemaker that not withstanding Steve's various lists of class e-mailers, the Shoemakers are not "lost" . It's true that Ray Shoemaker does not believe computers are here to stay so it's Judy who deals with the PC and e-mail. Judy reports that far from being "lost" she and Ray have been at the Fairfax military retirement community for seven years. She mentions other classmates and/or widows who also live there - Joe & Mary Couch, Dick Free, Joe & Lucille Donohue and widows Anne Colacicco and Betty Parker. (Insert photo #4 here)

Heard from Jack Dibble who sent along with pictures mentioned above a copy of the Nov 99 issue of the Intercom, the news letter of the Cape Canaveral Chap, TROA, in which Jacks's wife, Beverly is honored for her outstanding service to the Cape Canaveral Chapter over a period of seven years.

By UPS we were the happy recipients of the product of the labors(and management) of Sam & Kim Webster who sent a package of delicious pistachio nuts from their spread in Palo Alto, CA. I am sure that many others of our class received some , too. Over the years they have been in Palo Alto the Websters have proved themselves highly successful in business, while being active volunteers in a host of municipal projects. At the same time Sam has maintained his interest (and prowess, too, I believe) in tennis. A letter from Bill & Kathy Porte says they are busy in being tour administrators for a church group sponsored 16 day tour to the Oberammergau Passion Play, the Holy Land, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Geneva in Sept 2000. Bill invited us to join the tour but we know such a tour is now well beyond our physical capability. With our 60th and other travels in their travel plans for the year we wish the Portes the best! Heard in an E from Casti Castillo's daughter that he is still in PI but expects to return to US in time for our 60th! Casti has his reservations at the Thayer. . So it looks good for a lot of us to see Casti for the first time since graduation and his wife , Amor, for the first time ever. (Insert photo #7 here)
