Let’s start with a repetition of presently planned
future events:
Mini Mini at
Coronado CA - 14-18 Aug 01 Host Bill Porte and Sherry Denno.
DC Contingent’s Fall dinner, Belle Haven CC on 9
Dec 01—out of towners are invited but let Kerm know your plans!
Cocoa Beach
FL Mini - 12-16 Nov 01 - Host Jack Dibble
Bicentennial
Mini, Palm Desert CA - 11-15 Nov 02 - Host Bill Porte
Heard from Sam Patten that he and LG Jack
Norton ‘41 were vying for the podium at the Shepherdstown WV WPS Founders
day dinner 21 Apr. Jack is two weeks the elder, but ‘40 precedes ‘41!
No doubt both speakers gave inspiring words to the group. The Cases
and the Dibbles were the only class representatives at the Spacecoast
WPS Founders Day event at Patrick AFB 24 Mar as the Devlins had
to cancel at the last minute! Bill Porte advises he attended the
24 Mar WPS Founders day at Air Force Village West along with Jack Wright
who resides there. Ruth & Dale Epley and John Wohner
attended the WPS Founders’ day affair at Ft Monroe. Bill and Kathy have
kept me informed of his efforts on the Coronado Mini mini and the Palm
Desert Mini. Despite a couple of stints in the hospital since the one in
Australia, he and Kathy are off this Apr for a three week cruise tour of
France!
Glad to learn that Jim Maedler is now on
the class net through his son Rick at rmaedler@home.com. Also that
the Mary Jean & Frank Mandell have a new Internet address: MaryJeanMandell@msn.com
Betty Parker has persevered to solve her computer problems and now
can send mail! For some time she had to be a reader only. Even so she has
enjoyed the reading especially the many interesting anecdotes from Jeanne
& Allan Crockett on their expatriate life in Mexico. They will
be off the net for a few weeks of relaxing in a Condo at an undisclosed
location but reachable by heavily packed car. Looks as if we can expect
more interesting installments in the Crockett adventures! Prez Kerm
reports 42 of DC contingent attended the Spring luncheon at the Belle Haven
CC set up by perennial host George Mayo. After lunch John McLean
gave his views garnered from his just completed trip to China.
Those of you on the class net probably have read
Bob William’s E of 27 Apr 01 giving suggestions on what to
do if you have the misfortune of having a wallet and/or credit cards stolen.
I have extracted (I think!) the essence of what his personal taught him:
WHAT TO DO IF YOU LOSE YOUR PURSE OR WALLET 1. Cancel all credit cards
immediately. 2. File a police report ASAP in jurisdiction where loss/theft
occurred. 3. Call the three national credit reporting organizations
to place a fraud alert on your name and SS#; these are: Equifax 1-800-525-6285,
Experian (formerly TRW) 1-800-301-7195, Trans Union 1-800-680-7289. Social
Security Admin also has fraud line 1-800-269-0271. MOST IMPORTANT:
Keep the toll free and credit card numbers handy so you know whom to call!
Handy means a place you (and your spouse) know and can find readily to
avoid further stress than the loss has already caused! Thanks Bob
for sharing.
