  1. The Association of Graduates is now offering a new service for those wishing to have flowers placed on the grave of a loved one who is buried at the cemetery at West Point.

The conditions of the service and the responsibilities of parties involved are as follows:
    1. A payment of $6,000 will be required to establish the program. The money will be invested and the income derived will be used to finance the placement of flowers/plants /wreaths (hereafter referred to as “flowers”) on the grave of an individual, buried in the West Point cemetery, up to four times a year, in perpetuity, and cover any administrative costs incurred by the AOG. The participant will specify the four dates/occasions. Placement will commence with the first requested date/occasion after receipt of a signed agreement from the participant indicating that they understand and accept the conditions of the program, and the $6,000 payment.

The flowers will be appropriate for use in the program; however, the florist contracted by the AOG will determine the specific types. The selection of flowers, and dates of placement, will be monitored by the AOG to assure program compliance.

In the event of a change in policy or regulation no longer allowing the placement of live flowers in the cemetery, an appropriate substitute adornment will be provided.

Should circumstances occur, for whatever reason, beyond the control of the AOG, preventing the placement of flowers on a specific date/event, the flowers will be placed at the earliest possible date thereafter.

Should circumstances occur, for whatever reason, beyond the control of the AOG that would result in adornments of any nature no longer being allowed in the cemetery, the residual of the fund established for the purpose of this program will be transferred to the Alumni Support Endowment and will be accepted as a donation in the name of the deceased. Written notification will be sent to the donor, if surviving.

Investment of the donation will be determined by the Chief Financial Officer of the AOG, under the guidance of the Investment Committee of the Board of Trustees.

    2. The Director of Class Support, Alumni Support, AOG, will administer the program, contract with the florist, assure contract compliance, and keep the donor informed if any of the circumstances as outlined above occur.

  2. A copy of the formal agreement form is available for your use and/or distribution to members of your class.
