SUGGESTED SEQUENCE OF EVENTS

Although there is no mandatory sequence of events for a Founders Day dinner program, this example, based on the custom of many societies, is provided to help you plan the basic events of your evening.

The customary order of events is as follows:

  1. Benny Havens Hour

  2. Dinner, preceded by a toast to the Commander in Chief (or to the President of the United States in a non-military setting) and a Toast to the Corps.
Other toasts (such as a Toast to the Troops) may be added at the discretion of the event organizers.

  3. Introductory remarks by the Chairperson of the Dinner Committee (or Master of Ceremonies)

  4. Welcome by the local commander or West Point Society President

  5. Introduction of oldest graduate (Speech optional)

  6. Introduction of youngest graduate (Speech optional)

  7. Remarks by the guest speaker or other entertainment as selected by Committee

  8. Singing of the Alma Mater

  9. More Benny Havens

Some societies have been successful in adding the following events to their Founders Day Celebrations:

  1. Admissible Candidate Briefing - Click here for more information.

  2. Silent Auction - Intended to raise funds for society programs by auctioning donated items from members and local organizations.
