WPSR Coordinator: MAJ Carl Grunow, ‘84
Mission: WPSR members involved in Active Duty Support will work to inspire active duty officers to complete a full career in the Army.
Initiatives:
· Mentoring. WPSR members on active duty or retired from active service will interact with junior officers stationed at Fort Lee to attend the Combined Logistics Captain’s Career Course (CLC3, formerly the Advanced Course). Intent is to lead by example while promoting the benefits of an Army career.
· Active Duty Honorary Membership. Alumni who are stationed at FT Lee for short term schooling are granted honorary membership in the WPSR. The Society welcomes their participation in all events and offers its services to make their tour more rewarding.
· Information. The Coordinator will maintain an e-mail distribution list for USMA alumni on active duty at FT Lee. Intent is to advertise Society programs and to disseminate information that promotes the completion of a full career.
· Spouse Career Support. The Society will provide networking opportunities to spouses of active duty members to assist in job search activities.
Events:
· CLC3 Student Mixers (2004): 22 Jun, 9 Aug, 27 Sep. Informal gathering for each class where students, faculty, and mentors interact. WPSR members attend as mentors.
· Fall Society Lunch: Date TBD. Society members will host a lunch at the FT Lee Officer’s Club (Lee Club). Intent is to invite active duty alumni to engage in discussions about current issues and challenges to career soldiers.
